Oconee RESA is collaborating with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission to
provide a training for teacher leaders that will support implementation of the
changes in certificate renewal rules that go into effect in July 1, 2017.
This one-day teacher leader training helps equip teacher leaders to understand what research says about the teacher leader’s role in the professional learning community. Training will be conducted by Sallie Barrett of the GaPSC. Participants will be introduced to various protocols and tools that can immediately be used in their schools to engage their colleagues in collaborative work to improve teaching and learning.
Because GaPSC has limited resources, they can provide this one-day workshop only for a team of three teacher leaders per district and each district’s professional learning director. Following the training, the district team will be equipped to redeliver training to other teacher leaders in their district to build capacity. The district professional learning director should redeliver training to principals so they will be prepared to fully utilize the skills of their
teacher leaders. Target Audience: District teams consisting of 3 teachers/teacher leaders and the professional learning director Date: May 8, 2017 Time: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
