1: Content Area Rigor and Assessment Development
Participants will examine ways they can create meaningful, challenging, and rigorous assessments that provide opportunities that allow for higher level thinking in all their students. As a culminating activity participants will create or update units of study to include rigorous formative and summative assessments.Participants
will be able to:-Articulate a personal understanding of rigor-Explore the key elements of rigor, questioning and assessment-Apply design principles based on increased rigor in the analysis and
design of planning assessments.

Participants will examine ways they can create meaningful, challenging, and rigorous instructional activities and lessons that provide opportunities that allow for higher level thinking in all their students. As a culminating activity participants will create or update units of study to include rigorous instruction, materials and instructional strategies. Participants will: -Gain an understanding of educational rigor by examining research grounded in the need for rigor -Articulate a personal understanding of rigor-Explore the key elements of rigor, curriculum, instruction, differentiation, and questioning. -Apply design principles based on increased rigor in the analysis and design of planning and lessons.
