May 2017 Newsletter

                                            Happy Memorial Day!!

Thank you to all of those who have served, are serving,

and those that have given the ultimate sacrifice!

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Memorial Weekend. We sure were blessed with some beautiful weather!

Our Workshop on May 7th went very well and we had thirteen in attendance. Several of these folks were from the Valdosta area, as well as the Volunteer Coordinator from South Georgia Medical Center. It is our pleasure to assist them with getting their own group of animal therapy teams started. Thank you to Amy Heidt, Beverly Nichols, Sandy Knight and Bella for their assistance with the Workshop.

We are having evaluations on Saturday, June 3rd. Please check your expiration dates and please sign up for a renewal if you expire at the end of June. I have also scheduled July 22nd for our next available date for evaluations.

We have a lighter schedule for our calendar during the summer and I went over many of the schedule changes in the May Newsletter, remember we will not have scheduled visits during the month of August. We have been invited to participate in a church summer camp taking place in the Radium Springs area on June 5th at one 1:00 until 1:45. Aspire has also invited us to participate in a special summer event on June 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th from 9:15 until 9:45 in the morning. Two of these Aspire visits, Monday and Tuesday, are at their Clubhouse that we visit on Dawson Rd and the other two of these visits on Wednesday and Thursday, are at the Lee County Primary School. Please check the June Calendar for further details and please sign up to attend if you are available.

I am in the process of linking our website with a Paypal account in order to be able to take donations on our website. This will give us the ability to reach out to more people and businesses for support in our mission.

Our Spotligt Volunteers for May are, Paula Patterson and Abbie (10 year old Portuguese Water Dog).

Paula's involvement with Pet Partners began several years ago in Louisville where she would visit with Jack, a Golden Retriever. Sad to say that sweet Jack has since passed away. Paula and Abbie were tested through Therapy Dog institute several years ago and began visiting as a Therapy Team while residing in Chattanooga. Paula and Abbie mostly visited with Chattanooga Hospice, but were disappointed that the group was not very organized. Paula, her husband Owen and their two fur babies relocated to Albany GA several years ago. Paula was very excited when she learned about Paws Patrol. Paula was very eager to get more involved in the community by volunteering with Abbie as a animal therapy team. Paula loves sharing the joy a pet provides and knows just how much a pet can lift you up when you are feeling down or sick. Abbie loves children and especially enjoys the library visits.

Happy Birthday to our May Birthdays , Meg Farris and Marge Richards!!!

Please continue to keep Barbara, Richard, and Charlye Harden in your thoughts and prayers!
