I hope everyone had a great 4th!!

We are looking forward to some time off and I am already working on the September through December calendars.

July has been an extremely hot and quite busy month. There will be no scheduled visits during August, but we will be busy getting things organized and on task. 

We will be adding the Lee County Library visits back into our schedule, along with AARC/Lions, TLC and RYDC that is now located in Dawson, Ga. We have had much feedback that our visits are very much missed at the TLC (Transitional Learning Care in Lee County).  Please contact me if you are interested in visiting the Youth Detention Center in Dawson, because there is a packet to be filled out including a background check that takes about 4 to 6 weeks for processing. This is a brand new facility with all new staffing.

We will be working on a new Site List, with descriptions of the visits and any helpful specifics that we might need to know in advance, as well as a new Volunteer List. We will be updating the Website and encouraging members to get more involved if possible. 

Our next Evaluation date is scheduled for August 26, and I believe that we will have several evaluations and a few renewals to do that day, so please sign up to assist if you are available to help. I will give you an Assistant packet if you have not yet received one and would like to assist with evaluations. 

I will be posting the September calendar soon and I will send out an email when it is officially posted. We will be having our Semi-Annual Meeting on Sunday, September 17, from 3:00-5:00 PM. Please save the date and sign up on our website, so that we will have an accurate number of those attending, spouses welcome to attend.

Our Spotlight Volunteer team this month: Leigh Windham and Robert (Our Marathon Runner)

Leigh and Robert were both born and raised in South Georgia. Leigh was born in Albany and Robert was born on Leigh's family farm in Smithville, Georgia. Robert was the largest puppy in the litter and everyone knew he was special at a very young age.While most of the farm dogs are hunting/Field Trial dogs, Robert had no desire to hunt. He did, however, need a job. A friend suggested that Robert become a Therapy Dog with Paws Patrol-Pet Partners. Robert was 4 when he had his first Pet Partners Evaluation. There was concern about teaching an old dog new tricks, but Robert came through, he learned his "DOWN" in no time and it has become one of his favorite commands!

Leigh and Robert both love working with Paws Patrol-Pet Partners. Robert especially likes the children and enjoys spending Saturdays at one of the libraries. When not working with Paws Patrol-Pet Partners, Robert likes to go to work with Leigh at ReMax of Albany. Leigh is the new Broker/Owner of ReMax of Albany and he is the companys Furry Mascot.

-Sadly, on July 11th we said goodbye to a very special former Paws Patrol Member and our founder's, Marty   Harris' Mother, Liz Meilton. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who knew and loved her. We miss them both!
