September/October 2018

Goodbye to the heat and welcome to the Fall weather!

It's difficult to believe that Fall is here already! September and October went so quickly! SWGA sure has had it's share of bad weather beginning in January of 2017! I have been extra busy, like everyone else and I can't believe that  November and the holidays are here already!  Perhaps it was the recent Hurricane Michael that seems to have knocked everyone off their feet.  Nonetheless, although I sense a bit of sadness and despair in the community, I most importantly feel a sense of resilience and strength within our communities! ALBANY STRONG!!! I hope y'all did not suffer much damage! The storms and the rough flu seasons have sure interfered with our visits since the beginning of 2017. I truly am not going to be sad to see 2018 go but I am hopeful and praying that 2019 will be good year for all of us located in SWGA.

I have been trying to get this newsletter completed and posted since the end of September, which was a very busy month for our group. We held evaluations on September 16th and please join me in welcoming back to our group, Linda Grimes-Kohrs and her beautiful Himalayan Kitty, Buddy!! We are so happy to have them back. Linda had to take a break from visiting due to her husbands health concerns. Please keep Linda and her husband David, in your thoughts and prayers as they are still struggling with health concerns.

I am also excited to share with everyone that Smoky and I were also evaluated on the 16th and received a complex rating! Yay! Our next scheduled date to do evaluations will be on Sunday afternoon, November 11th. I was hoping to schedule another workshop but I am afraid with the added stress of the storm, that it will have to wait until after the holidays.

We were quite disappointed that Camp Good Grief had to be canceled due to the storm and it may be able to be rescheduled in the spring. They will keep us posted to any possible new dates.

I am sorry to say that the AARC/LIONS facility was badly damaged in the storm and they have canceled visits with us until further notice. Please keep these awesome folks in your thoughts and prayers through this recovery phase.
