April is Dry Eye Awareness Month
by Anna Balderson on 4/3/2012

Attention SCOPA Members - April is Dry Eye Awareness Month!

Campaign Description:

Dry eye is a condition that not only affects Americans during the winter months, but can cause discomfort year-round. With warmer weather approaching and allergy season upon us, the SCOPA/AOA's goal is to educate consumers about the potential factors that can cause dry eye as well as be the go-to resource on symptoms and treatments. Additionally, the campaign will highlight the correlation between omega-3 fatty acids and the improvement in dry eye syndrome.
Please see below for information and resources to utilize during this month's campaign. These materials will help ensure that communications and public relations efforts in South Carolina and other state affiliates feature collective, cohesive and consistent messages about the campaign and optometry. Please find below a press release, e-mail pitch and social media posts.
Campaign Tactics:

- Dry Eye Awareness Press Release
- Dry Eye Awareness Social Media Posts
- Dry Eye Awareness E-mail Pitch

Want to promote your practice? Be a part of the SCOPA's media outreach by providing a patient story for the campaign's release, sent to media state wide. Contact the SCOPA office and/or Drs. Jennie Smith Zolman and Johndra McNeely.
