Bio

Robert Reed Ingram is an American politician who has served as a Republican member of the Alabama House of Representatives for District 75 since November 5, 2014. Born in 1962, he represents parts of Elmore County and Montgomery County in Alabama. Ingram resides in Mathews, Alabama, and maintains his district office at 85 Meriwether Road in Pike Road.

Prior to his legislative career, Ingram served as a member of the Montgomery County Commission from 2004 to 2014. During his tenure on the commission, he served as Vice Chairman in 2009. His experience in local government provided him with a foundation for understanding county-level governance and budget management before transitioning to state-level representation.

Ingram completed his high school education at Bullock Memorial High School and later earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Auburn University. His educational background in business management has informed his approach to legislation and public service throughout his career.

As a successful entrepreneur, Ingram has operated multiple businesses including Truck Outfitters and Phase III Vans. He is also the President and Chief Executive Officer of Reed Ingram Motors. Additionally, Ingram and his wife Karen own and operate SweetCreek Farm Market, a cafe and market that primarily sells local produce and locally produced goods. The market, named for the nearby Catoma Creek and the market's fresh-baked sweets, opened in late March 2016 and employs 39 people.

In the Alabama House of Representatives, Ingram has served in various committee positions throughout his tenure. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the House Committee on County and Municipal Government and is a member of the Agriculture and Forestry Committee and Montgomery County Legislation Committee. His committee assignments reflect his background in local government and agricultural interests.

Ingram has been active in sponsoring legislation related to local governance and agricultural issues. His legislative work has included bills related to motor vehicle fines and fees, local redevelopment authorities, and county taxation matters. In 2025, he introduced House Bill 231, a constitutional amendment that would mandate daily prayer and pledge of allegiance in classrooms, with schools risking funding loss for non-compliance.

Throughout his career, Ingram has maintained extensive involvement in community organizations and boards. He has served on the board of directors for the South Alabama Development Commission and Habitat for Humanity. His agricultural interests are reflected in his service on the Alabama State Agriculture Board of Directors and his past presidency of the Farm Bureau Federation of Montgomery County. He currently serves as a member of the board of the Central Alabama Aging Consortium.

Ingram has been consistently re-elected to his House seat with strong margins. In the 2022 general election, he won with 97.3% of the vote against write-in candidates. His current term ends on November 4, 2026. His legislative work continues to focus on county and municipal government issues, agriculture, and conservative social policies.
