Bio

Andrew Jones is a Republican member of the Alabama State Senate, representing District 10 since November 7, 2018. District 10 encompasses Etowah, Cherokee, and Southern DeKalb counties. Jones was elected to the Senate in 2018 in his first run for public office, defeating incumbent candidate Craig Ford in the general election with 60.6% of the vote. He was re-elected in 2022 with 98.2% of the vote.

Jones currently serves as Chairman of the Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Safety Committee and Vice Chairman of the Tourism Committee. He also sits on multiple committees including Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry; Banking and Insurance; Confirmations; Finance and Taxation General Fund; Rules; and the Joint Legislative Committee on State Parks. Previously, he served as Chairman of the Children, Youth, and Human Services Committee.

Jones is the founder and owner of Deep South Coffee Factory, a craft coffee roasting company established in 2017. The business has grown quickly, with multiple stores selling Deep South Coffee and online sales from Alaska to New York. As a fourth-generation cattle farmer, Jones is also a shareholder in Paul Jennings Farms, Inc., which is named after his late grandfather.

Before entering politics, Jones spent several years working in South Korea and later Japan as part of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Berea College in Kentucky and a Master's degree in Public Policy from the College of William and Mary in Virginia.

Jones resides in Centre, Alabama, with his wife Summer. They are members of Centre First Baptist Church, where Jones serves as pianist. As a lifelong conservative, Jones was active in the Cherokee County Republican Party during his high school days, before there were any elected Republican officials in the county.

During his legislative tenure, Jones has focused on supporting small businesses and farmers, advancing military and veterans' initiatives, and promoting economic development. He sponsored legislation during the 2023 and 2025 sessions to cut Alabama's state grocery tax by 50%, which supporters say resulted in the largest tax cut in state history. Through his chairmanship of the Veterans Affairs committee, Jones has worked to make Alabama the best state for military spouse license reciprocity and the second best state for veterans to retire.

Jones has received several national recognitions for his leadership. In 2024, he was selected as one of 49 leaders nationwide for the prestigious Henry Toll Fellowship. He was also named one of 20 recipients of the 2024 Council of State Governments (CSG) 20 Under 40 Leadership Award, recognizing young leaders making significant contributions to public service. Additionally, he received the Alabama Republican Party's "Defender of Freedom" Award for his work on the grocery tax reduction.

Locally, Jones has championed major infrastructure projects, including the completed $43 million expansion of U.S. Highway 411 between Etowah and Cherokee Counties and the ongoing $65 million I-759 Eastern Connector project. He has also secured over $13 million in investments for the Northeast Alabama Regional (NEAR) Megasite through legislation he co-sponsored.
