Bio

State Senator Kenya Wicks, a Democrat, was elected to the Georgia State Senate in November 2024. She represents Georgia's 34th Senate District, which includes portions of Fayette and Clayton counties. Sen. Wicks serves as a member of the Senate Committees on Government Oversight, Public Safety, Science and Technology, Urban Affairs and Veterans, Military, and Homeland Security. Sen. Wicks grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and served 30 honorable years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Major. Her military career began with her rise to Sergeant First Class before she was commissioned through Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 2008. Sen. Wicks is Vice Chair of the Fayette County Democratic Committee, an advocate for foster children as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), and a member of the Fayette Democratic Women Organization. Sen.

Wicks also serves as Vice President of the Kentucky Colonels, Secretary for her Homeowners Association and as an active participant in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

Sen. Wicks regularly supports veterans through memberships in the American Legion Post #202 and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Command Sergeant Major (CSM) A. C. Cotton Post #12209. Additionally, she is an active member of the Fayette Chapter of the NAACP and The Olivet Church. Sen. Wicks earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Alabama in 2010.

Beyond her military career, Sen. Wicks is a devoted mother of three sons and a golden doodle named Major.
