Delegate, Democratic Party National Convention, 2000. Vice-Chair, Executive Committee, Democratic State Central Committee, 2009-11. Member, Eastside Democratic Organization; America's Fund; National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Awards received from- Baltimore City Council, 1981; President, Baltimore City Council, 1985; State Senate, 1985; Maryland State Conference, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Mayor's Citation, Baltimore City. Named Young Democrat of the Year, Young Democrats of Maryland, 1985. Three children.
