During the 88th General Assembly, Senator Wyatt was appointed Assistant Pro Tempore of the First Congressional District by President Pro Tempore Paul Bookout. Additionally, he served as chair of the Joint Interim Committee on Legislative Facilities, co-vice chairman of Legislative Joint Audit, and as vice chairman of Transportation, Technology and Legislative Affairs. He was also a member of the following legislative committees- Arkansas Legislative Council; Joint Budget; Senate Efficiency; Joint Retirement and Social Security Systems; and Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development.

During the 87th General Assembly he was the co-sponsor of two milk stabilization programs to help reduce costs for dairy farmers and the lead sponsor of Act 1221 of 2009, a bill to enhance Arkansas's public safety communications.

In 2010, Senator Wyatt was chosen as a member of the Southern Legislative Conference Delegation to the third Americas 2020 Summit, a Border Legislative Conference to foster solutions in expanding and improving mobility and security across international boundaries, and enhancing economic development and global competitiveness.

Senator Wyatt served in the House of Representatives from 2005-2007 representing House District 72, and he served as Independence County Judge for two decades.

Civically, he serves on the Regional Advisory Board of Lyon College in Batesville, the Community School Board and the Health Resources Board. He is a former member of the Independence County Fair Board and the Farm Bureau Board. Previously, he received a citation for Friends of 4-H, and his family was chosen as the 1978 Independence County Farm Family, a designation sponsored by several agricultural and natural resources agencies.

Professionally, he is a farmer and rancher. He and his wife, Deborah, have two sons and three grandchildren.
