BioRandy Fischer is beginning his fourth and final term representing House District 53. His district includes most of the west side of Fort Collins, including the main campus of Colorado State University and the Larimer campus of Front Range Community College.Rep. Fischer is chairman of the House Agriculture, Livestock & Natural Resources Committee. He also serves as a member of the House Transportation Committee, and on several interim committees, including the Water Resources Review Committee and the Transportation Legislative Review Committee. During his six years in the legislature, Rep. Fischer has focused on issues related to the long-term sustainability of Colorado’s economy and environment, including water supply and water quality, natural resource conservation, renewable energy, and an efficient 21st-century multimodal transportation system. He has also championed educational issues, including early childhood, K-12, and higher education. He earned a B.S. degree in natural resources management from Colorado State University in 1976, and went on to receive a master’s degree in civil/environmental engineering, also from CSU. For the past 20 years, Rep. Fischer has worked as a consulting engineer specializing in the reclamation and remediation of abandoned mine sites throughout the U.S. and around the world. Rep. Fischer and his wife Kathy enjoy spending their time outdoors, running, growing a big garden each year, hiking, mountaineering, and watching wildlife.
