BioSenator Judson Hill was first elected to the Georgia Senate in 2004 by almost 75 percent of the vote to represent East Cobb County and a portion of Sandy Springs in Fulton County.Senator Hill currently serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee. He is also a member of the Appropriations, In-surance and Labor, Rules, and Regulated Industries and Utilities Committees. In 2006, 2008 and 2012 Senator Hill was unanimously elected to serve as Vice Chairman of the Senate Republican Caucus. Previously, Senator Hill served as Chair of the Sen-ate Reapportionment and Redistricting and Government Oversight committees, and also as Secretary of the Senate Judiciary committee. He is a past member of the Health and Human Services, Judiciary, Urban Affairs and Transporta-tion Committees. Senator Hill has also served as Deputy Majority Whip for the Senate Republican Caucus. Senator Hill is also Chairman of the Georgia World Congress Center & Georgia Dome Overview Committee, Co-Chairman of the Georgia High School Sports Association Oversight Committee, Chairman of the Healthcare Transformation Senate Study Committee and has served on MARTOC - the oversight committee for the Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Au-thority. Senator Hill is a strong conservative supporter of free mar-ket healthcare solutions, and has passed several healthcare reform bills that have been adopted by national associations as model legislation. In 2010, Senator Hill authored and passed legislation protecting the right of Georgia citizens to choose the health care plan that is best for their individual family, and also protect from federal fines or penalties for exercising their freedom of choice. In 2008, Senator Hill au-thored and successfully passed the nation’s first patient-centered, prevention-focused free market reform legisla-tion, ultimately making healthcare and insurance more af-fordable for Georgia’s working families. Senator Hill was instrumental in the passage of Georgia’s comprehensive civil justice reform bill in 2005, and he also co-sponsored and passed legislation allowing the people of Sandy Springs to vote on incorporation as a new city. He has also championed measures protecting people from un-fair governmental eminent domain powers, the nation’s toughest immigration reform legislation, and in 2006, he sponsored one of the nation’s toughest sexual predator bills. Senator Hill served in the Reagan Administration as an As-sistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, and also in Washington, D.C. as a White House appointee at the United States Department of State, Agency for International Development. Prior to those appoint-ments, Senator Hill worked for President Ronald Reagan on the White House Advance Team and on the Reagan-Bush ’84 campaign. Before he was elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2004, he led numerous state and local political Senator Judson Hill Senate District 32 campaigns. Senator Hill graduated from Emory University with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science. His Juris Doctorate degree is from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. He is the co-author of the business book Enhancing Your Business Value. Senator Hill and his wife, Shelly, who are proud parents of three children, have lived in East Cobb County for over 25 years. Shelly is a graduate of Lassiter High School and a lifelong resident of East Cobb. Judson and his wife have been active in the East Cobb community for many years, including membership at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, serving on the Board of East Cobb Park and volunteering in many community service activities. Aside from his service to the State and community, Judson has been a Sunday school and Bible study teacher for many years and is currently a partner in a telecommunication services firm.
