Bio- I am a lifelong resident of Rockingham County, born in Reidsville. My parents, Janie Jones and the late Herbert Jones, both grew up on modest family farms during the Great Depression. They learned from humble upbringing, and taught us children the importance of working hard, being thrifty, and living within our means.- My life is centered in my Christian faith in God. My family is active in the church, and I enjoy studying and teaching the Bible. I do not support government forced religion or anti-religion. I just believe we should be true to our national motto of "One Nation Under God". We desire God's blessings, and we should honor Him. - This year, my wife Susan and I celebrate 21 years of marriage. Our children David and Caroline are 18 and 15. Next to the Lord, family is most important to me. - I graduated from Reidsville High School, and returned to my home county after college and dental school at UNC in Chapel Hill. I have been a business owner since 1988. After many years in family dental practice, I now limit my practice of dentistry to doing relief work after having multiple back surgeries. - Helping others through community service is important to me. I have been blessed to serve on multiple boards, including the Free Clinic of Rockingham County, the county Board of Health, the Rockingham Council for Bible Education, the Kiwanis Clubs of Eden and Reidsville, and others. Many have included leadership positions. I coached youth sports many years, and have done much camp work. The Lord has been good to me, and I hope to be able to serve and help others in meaningful ways. - My legislative service began in 2011. Before that, I served as a Rockingham County Commissioner (2004-08). I have always kept my word. I have stood for balanced budgets, limited government, lower taxes, and citizens' rights... including our property rights and Second Amendment rights that have often been under attack. I have worked for more efficiency and transparency in government, and fair treatment of our state and county employees. I also understand that we must spend within our means, something our state desperately needs. - I have conservative values, and believe government has often exceeded its constitutional role. We need government to be better, not bigger. That describes my approach to government better than just a party label can. I believe we must reduce the size, scope and spending of government. - Our society is drowning in government debt. This situation is critical, and follows a historical pattern of certain economic disaster. I believe effective change will start with the citizens, not the elected leaders. Many local Republicans, Democrats and Independents alike believe as I do. We hold the same values. I believe in capitalism, work ethic, faith, liberty and freedom... and am working to protect these values and opportunities for our children.
