Bio

Senator Gayle Manning is serving her first term in the Ohio Senate. She represents the 13th Ohio Senate District, which encompasses Huron and Lorain counties and the eastern portions of Seneca County. A former elementary school teacher, Manning will use her experience in the classroom, at the local government level and with small business owners to help get things done in Columbus and bring jobs and prosperity back to the district.

For this General Assembly, Manning has been named vice-chair of the Senate Education Committee and a member of the Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Committee, the Government Oversight and Reform Committee and the Ways and Means and Economic Development Committee. These assignments will provide Manning with a seat at the table on issues that are of direct concern to her constituents - including economic development and promoting Ohio's agriculture industry.

A lifelong Ohioan, Manning taught elementary school students in North Olmsted City Schools for 37 years, winning numerous awards and citations for her accomplishments in education. She was named Educator of the Year by the North Olmsted Council of PTA and received the Teacher in American Enterprise Award from the Ohio Council on Economic Education.

Manning has also served as a member of the North Ridgeville Planning Commission and on North Ridgeville Council from 2006-2007, serving as Finance Chairwoman and President Pro-Tempore.

Senator Manning received her bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and her master’s degree from Akron University. She resides in North Ridgeville, where she and her late husband, former State Representative Jeff Manning, raised their two children Allison and Nathan.
