Bio

Occupation- Emergency Room Physician. Education- B.S. Central State University; M.N. Texas Women's University; M.D. Texas Tech Health Science Center; General Surgical Internship, Methodist Hospital of Dallas; Residency in Ophthalmology, University of Texas Health Science Center Houston. Legislative Experience- Senate Member, 2013-present. Hometown- New Braunfels. Party- Republican. A conservative woman of faith and a working mom, Donna Campbell was elected to the Texas Senate in 2012 to represent Senate District 25, a six-county district stretching across Central Texas. Dr. Campbell and her husband, Stan, reside in New Braunfels with the youngest of their four daughters. Dr. Campbell's father served in the United States Navy and later as a trooper in the Oklahoma highway patrol. Her mother was a factory worker who became a registered nurse. Dr. Campbell also began her medical career as a nurse. She earned a Bachelor in Science at Central State University and a Master's Degree from Texas Women's University specializing as a Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist and an additional role in Nurse Administration. She received her medical degree from Texas Tech Health Science Center and completed her residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. She received the Morton Award as an outstanding resident in ophthalmology at the Herman Eye Center in Houston and was inducted into the Medical School Honor Society Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Campbell is a double board-certified physician in Ophthalmology and Emergency Medicine. At the time of her election to the Texas Senate she was the Medical Director at Columbus Community Hospital Emergency Department and worked full time at a free-standing emergency room in Houston. Through her volunteer medical work with Christian Eye Ministries, Dr. Campbell has performed hundreds of eye surgeries in the West African nation of Ghana.
