Bio

When Jim Davis arrived in Franklin, NC many years ago, he knew he had finally found “home”. He came with his pretty bride, Judy Salyers Davis, a diamond blue VW Beetle with 90,000 miles on it, and a hard-earned piece of paper on which was written, “James Wayland Davis, DDS”. All he needed was to go out and make a few friends so he would have some teeth to work on.

Now, over 37 years later, his bride is prettier than ever, the VW has long since been laid to rest, he is overwhelmed by the friends he has made, and there is another hard-earned piece of paper that gives him the go-ahead to straighten wayward teeth. Oh, and he’s a grandfather now too! Carly and Megan, daughters of his son Jeff and wife Rebecca, and nieces of his son Josh, call Jim “Bubba”. Jim’s promise to those little girls is the same promise he makes to the people of the region he serves — to do everything within his power to return North Carolina to the values that made it part of the best country in the world. The people of this great state deserve nothing less.

As a dentist, Jim Davis knows that you can’t “pretty up” decay. It’s got to go. Period. As an orthodontist, he knows that if things are wayward, they must be pulled back in line in order for them to do their job as intended. As a public servant, with three terms as a Macon County commissioner and now as North Carolina’s Senator for District 50, he knows these same principles apply to government. If it’s decayed, stand up, call it what it is, and get rid of it. If it’s wayward, stand up, call it what it is, and get it back in line so it can do its job and SERVE the people.

Much has changed since that VW Beetle rolled into Franklin over thirty six years ago, but the solid values of the region remain – the pursuit of individual liberty empowered by personal responsibility, limited government, and free enterprise. Jim Davis grew up with these values and he knows they are worth fighting for. And that is exactly what he is doing as a North Carolina Senator.
