BioMitch Rosenwald, a university professor and former mayor of Oakland Park, Florida, has a distinguished career in public service and academia. Born in Towson, Maryland, he pursued higher education at Salisbury University, Syracuse University, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where he earned both an MSW and a PhD.
Elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2024, Rosenwald previously served as Mayor of Oakland Park from 2023 to 2024, Vice Mayor from 2022 to 2023, and Commissioner from 2020 to 2024. His extensive experience in governance is complemented by his leadership in social work, having served as President of the Florida Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and being recognized as Social Worker of the Year in 2009.
An accomplished author, Rosenwald has written Political Ideology and Social Work and coauthored Advocating for Children in Foster and Kinship Care. He also edited One Paradigm, Many Worlds- Conflict Resolution Across the Disciplines. His personal interests include music, SCUBA diving, and travel.
