BioMy first enterprise at the age of 6 was my father showing me how to plant radishes in our family garden. When they matured, I bundled and delivered the bundles via my bicycle for ten cents each to Mr. Stark at his grocery store on Main street in Heber Springs. I've had many jobs related to my family's country living over the years and have learned the value of hard work and earning my own money. My father, O.L. Payton, being deeply rooted in the automobile business told me many times, "The car business paid for our farming hobbies." I grew up in the car business also. I detailed the cars and trucks my father bought and sold. I became a driver, as a very young man, for several auto auctions, then a ringmaster and eventually a licensed auctioneer. I began selling automobiles at my father's dealership. I met Rhonda and later married this wonderful and patient woman in 1987. We have three exceptional children- Ambre, Justin and Tyler. In 1987, my father purchased Central Arkansas Auto Auction (CAAA) in Beebe, Arkansas. After growing the auction for 11 years, we sold the business in 1999. Rhonda and I took over the operation of O.L. Payton Automotive in Heber Springs, changing the name to Payton Select Automotive which we still operate today. In 2003, we purchased the local (Heber Springs) GM franchise and thus, Payton Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, Inc. was born. In 2006, we built a new state of the art facility to house this dealership on highway 25B north where we are today. In 2004, we reopened our auction CAAA in its original location. We continue to operate this auction. In 2007, we purchased the Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep dealership in Clinton, Arkansas that we now operate as Payton Dodge Chrysler Jeep.
