BioBorn in Yakima, Washington on June 10, 1978, Juan Carlos (J.C.) Escamilla has lived in San Luis, Arizona since 1989. Graduated from Kofa High School in 1996, attended Arizona Western College (AWC).J.C. Escamilla was re-elected Mayor in May 2010 for a second four year term. Prior to running for Mayor, Juan Carlos served as a City Council member from November 2001 to May 2004. Former Mayor Escamilla is one of the founders of the US-Mexico Border Mayor Association and currently serves on the board for the, Amberly's Place (domestic violence advocacy group), South Yuma County Anti-Drug Coalition, and Chair of the San Luis Walk In-Clinic. Awarded with the 2011 Distinguish OHTLI by the Mexican Consulate. As well with the prestigious "Good Neighbor Award" from the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce. On June 09, 2012 Juan Carlos was awarded the prestigious "Tony Certosimo Award" from Governor Brewer and Sonora Governor Padres. He is married to Yadira Escamilla and has three children Alexis, Daniella and Juan Karlos. In his free time, former Mayor Escamilla enjoys spending time with his family; he has a great passion for politics and rural Arizona, and is very active with his community.
