He presently serves as Chairman of the Georgia Legislative Rural Caucus, as Vice Chairman of the House Insurance Committee and as a member of the House Economic Development & Tourism Committee; House Game, Fish & Parks Committee; and House Small Business Development Committee.

Rep. Shaw earned a Bachelor’s in degree political science from the University of Georgia and is also a graduate of the Leadership Georgia class of 2004, the Leadership Lanier class of 2003 and the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership class of 2000.

Rep. Shaw maintains a dedication to community service. He served as President of the Lakeland/Lanier County Chamber of Commerce in 2006 and the Lanier County Lions Club in 2001, and he is also a past Director of the Greater Valdosta Area United Way. Currently, Rep. Shaw serves as Finance Chairman at Unity United Methodist Church in Lakeland, as a Trustee of the Valdosta Technical College Foundation, and as a Director of many programs including the Professional Insurance Agents Association of Georgia, Southern Financial Systems, the South Regional Joint Development Authority and the Georgia Olive Growers Association. He also serves as an Honorary Commander at Moody Air Force Base.

Rep. Shaw is the owner of Shaw Insurance Services Inc. of Lakeland; a partner of the Morris & Shaw Insurance Agency, Inc. in Nashville Georgia; and a partner of Georgia Olive Farms Inc.

In addition to his public service, professional and civic responsibilities, Rep. Shaw enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter as well as outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing and golf.
