BioState Representative Don Parsons has been a resident of Cobb County since 1972. He and his wife, Jo Lynn were married in 1973 after graduating from West Virginia State University. Representative Parsons served in the United States Army Reserve and the Army National Guard. He served as a section leader in the Armored Cavalry, and was later a First Sergeant in the Signal Corp. Don spent 35 years working for BellSouth. He started his career as a telephone installer-repairman and made his way through the company, ultimately retiring as Operations Manager of BellSouth Communications Systems in 2004. He continues to work in the telecommunications field as a consultant. He and Jo Lynn are the proud parents of two daughters, and grandparents to six young grandchildren. Don serves on a number of civic boards, including the Cobb Library Foundation, Georgia Ballet Board of Directors and the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy. Don has been a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives since 1995. He currently serves as Chairman of the House Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee. In addition, he also serves on the Appropriations Committee, Ways & Means Committee and the Health & Human Services Committee. In his free time Don enjoys outdoor activities with his grandchildren, picture framing and carpentry. He and Jo Lynn worship in the Methodist tradition of the Christian Church.
