Bio

I'm Shea - a mother, attorney, and business owner. I'm a Georgia native who split my time as a child between Dalton and numerous farm towns in California. But I'm proud to have spent the last two decades serving Sandy Springs and Atlanta families & business owners at the law firm I started in 2002. It is in this business that I read and interpret legislation every single day. I help people from all walks of life lobby our local legislators for proposed change in land use. And I have been successful in creating resolutions between opposing parties on complex emotional issues such as people's families, their homes, and our neighborhoods.

In 2006, I met Brian, who became my partner in work and in life. We have three children in our blended family, and they inspire and motivate me every day. For the past nine years, I've dedicated my free time to volunteering at my daughter's school - including chairing grade events and handling communications for the school's largest fundraisers. I've even had the unique opportunity to foster my passion for public service in my youngest daughter. In 2016, we were recognized for our commitment to the community by being accepted into the Buckhead Chapter of the National Charity League. We've been honored serving through mother-daughter volunteer opportunities at local philanthropies such as- the Agape Center, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Buckhead Christian Ministries, City of Refuge, Piedmont Hospital, Northside Activity Center, Meals on Wheels, Ronald McDonald House, and others.

Before all of this, I received my B.A. in Journalism, as well as a J.D. from the Catholic University of America. In school, I got my first taste for public service. At Catholic, I helped form the first campus organization to provide a safe space for students to discuss women's health and equality issues. I also accepted a position with Special Olympics International, where I was honored to serve athletes with intellectual disabilities under the leadership of Eunice Kennedy and Sargent Shriver.

And so, the decision to run for State Representative was not one made on a whim. My whole story has built to this. Every family I've helped, every community I've volunteered for, the business I started that survived the 2007 real estate crash and now thrives this job as a public servant for our state is what I have worked towards my whole life.
