Sandra Givens Scott was born to the late Mrs. Mamie Givens Jones and Samuel N. Givens in Quincy, Florida. She graduated from Havana High School and earned her BS Degree from Florida A&M University School of Business and Industry in Business Management. She joined the United States Army in 1984 and served in Seoul, Korea, Ft. Hood, Texas, and Nuernberg, Germany (SSG). She married MSG Edward Scott (31) and had one son, Dexter. She now has a grandson Lucas. She received her teacher certification from Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia and has taught school for twenty plus years.

She entered the World of Politics in 2008 as a member of the Clayton County Board of Education. She ran for State Representative, District 76, in 2010, where she still serves. She represents North Henry ( Ellenwood, Lighthouse, Shakerag, and Swan Lake) precincts and in Clayton she represents Conley, Rex, Ellenwood, Morrow, and Lake City. She works everyday to "Keep You Informed" on what is happening in the State of Georgia. Her favorite saying is " If I can just help One Person a day then, my Living will not be in Vain." She has been attending conferences and working hard to become part of the National leadership. She is the Recording Secretary for the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women (2017-2020). She is the Parliamentarian for the National Foundation of Women Legislators (2017-2020) and is a member of the Executive Board of Directors for the National Black Caucus of State Legislators.

She attends Travelers Rest M B Church under the leadership of Pastor Arthur Powell. She is the former Chair of the Clayton County Delegation (2014-2016). She is the former State Director for Women in Government and National Foundation of Women Legislators where she has recently (2016) been voted to the Board of Directors. She was the Vice Chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus 2017-2018. She was the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Whip for 2015-2016. 2013 Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Legislator of the Year. She was Awarded the NFWL 2013 Woman of Excellence Award in Washington, DC. She is a member of the Georgia Women Caucus, Working Family Caucus, WILL/WAND, Clayton and Henry County NAACP, Henry County Democratic Women, Clayton/Henry Chapter of National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) , and a former member of the GLBC Executive Committee. She currently serves on the following House Committees- Human Relations and Aging, Science and Technology, Reapportionment, Veterans Affairs and Special Rules.

She is a representative that serves all of Georgia not just the people in D76. She travels all over Georgia to help people in need of assistance. She stands and fight side by side of people who feel that they have been done wrong. She stands up and speak out against in justice. She will march and protest for justice.
