Bio

Jay Hoffman is serving his first term as State Representative of the 113th District. He previously served as State Representative of the 112th District, from January 1991 to January 1997 and from October 1997 to January 2011.

During his career in public service, Hoffman helped to pass two major, multi-billion dollar capital construction plans in Illinois that created hundreds of thousands of construction, development and new-business jobs and provided billions of dollars for communities across the state.

As State Representative, Hoffman's top concerns are strengthening public safety, improving job growth and economic development, providing educational opportunities, making Illinois the leader in the research and production of alternative energy, and balancing the state budget.

Hoffman has a B.S. in Finance from Illinois State University and a law degree from St. Louis University School of Law. Prior to becoming a state representative, he served as a St. Clair County prosecutor and the Director of Probation and Court Services for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court.

Hoffman authored a book that provides a blueprint for utilizing the state's natural resources to create jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. "Hope from the Heartland- Jobs, Clean Air, Energy Security" outlines how the Midwest can lead the nation in research and the production of alternative energy by utilizing the Midwestern states' natural resources to create jobs in the declining manufacturing sector.
