Bio

I was born and raised in Claiborne Parish, where I had the pleasure to be a Homer Pelican for Elementary, Middle and High School, where I was class president. My education and the support of District 11 community members, including Ebenezer Baptist Church, Antioch of Summerfield, Forest Grove of Lisbon, St. John MBC of Homer and several churches of Athens prepared me for my first year of college and a winning season of football on the SWAC and Black National Championship team of 2005-2006 at Grambling State University.

I went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree at Arkansas Baptist College where I owned and operated a small business, Shaved Ice, during my matriculation and became a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Later, I went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center. The positive experiences and love I received right here at home shaped my passion for enhancing educational opportunities for the children District 11 and throughout Louisiana. I have extensive experience in education, working as a classroom teacher here in District 11 and served as the founding Chief Operating Officer of Lincoln Preparatory School in Grambling. This gave me the opportunity to see our greatest needs first-hand.

I also gained valuable experience as a Law Clerk and Research Assistant for the General Counsel of the Southern University System, in Harvard Business School's CORE Business program, and as a Policy Develoer and Grant Administrator for the Office of Fiscal Operations and Federal Support for the Louisiana Department of Education. Today, I live and work in Homer as an independent practicing attorney with the unending love and support of my wife, Alexis Young, a two-time graduate of Grambling State University, a member of the Orchesis Dance Company and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

I feel that my four children, along with every child in Louisiana, should receive a quality education and be able to live a safe, fruitful, and progressive life in the state that we love. We can do that together, by creating and activating a business plan for growth, preservation, and community activism.
