Bio

State Rep. Jasper Martus is serving his first term representing the 69th House District, which comprises Flushing, Flint, Mount Morris, Swartz Creek and Montrose.

Rep. Martus believes in the importance of representing the people he serves. His family and faith have instilled a commitment to helping others. This outlook is shaped by the hardworking and dedicated people of his community. His priorities center around the people of his community by advocating for their well-being, focusing on infrastructure improvements, and raising the bar for education and job opportunities.

Rep. Martus is a lifelong resident of Genesee County. At a young age, he took an interest in and passion for politics with an eye on leadership. He has earned a state championship for public speaking and founded a chapter of the internationally renowned Euphrates Institute, where he spearheaded initiatives focused on interfaith collaboration and community service. Rep. Martus was invited to speak at the United Nations for World Interfaith Harmony Week in 2018.

Rep. Martus graduated from Michigan State University's James Madison College with a degree in international relations and a minor in world religions. While at MSU, Rep. Martus founded the student group Kennedy Democrats, which is dedicated to assisting young people develop leadership skills and consider a career in politics. He also hosted the series "Trails to the Chief" which discussed adversity in the early lives of presidents and what lessons all people can learn from their experiences.

Rep. Martus brings his dedication, passion and leadership to his legislative work to make for a better Michigan. He continues to work hard to change the lives of many and continues to dedicate his time and energy to cultivate a new and prosperous Michigan future.
