State Representative Randy Frye is the son of Marjorie and Lucian Frye of Oldenburg, Indiana. Randy was raised on the 80 acre family farm which his parents still operate today. A graduate of Batesville High school, Randy was active in sports in addition to fulfilling his responsibilities of working on the family farm. He played college basketball at Cincinnati Christian College and is currently married to Deborah (Shell) Frye. They have been married for 35 years, and have two children, Steve and Suzanne.
Randy is currently a Lieutenant with the Indianapolis Fire Department. He has been a career firefighter for 26 years. Prior to working in Indianapolis, Randy had worked for the Palm Beach Fire Department in Palm Beach, Florida. After returning to Indiana, Randy worked for the Washington Township Fire Department where he participated as a member of the Hazardous Materials Team, firefighter/paramedic program and firefighter. In 1996, Randy was awarded the prestigious Ben Franklin Award by the fire department administration after helping provide emergency supplies to the victims of the Northridge Earthquake in California.
Randy and his wife Deborah purchased Blue River Telecommunications in 1999 and expanded and developed the business over the last ten years. In addition to diversifying the company to include fiber optic cable installation and computerization technologies, Randy and Deborah expanded into a large market share including, VOIP phone service, data networking, video security and telecommunications before selling the successful company in 2010.
Representative Frye envisions government as a tool to help the citizens of Indiana. His vision is to see that government provides the leadership to help citizens be successful while keeping government small and taxes to a minimum.
