BioI am Andrew Myers, a hands on fiscally conservative candidate, a loving husband and father of three daughters. I currently serve as an elected City Council Member in Minnetonka Beach, have been endorsed by the Republican Party, and am running to earn your vote for Representative in District 33B. I will bring tenacity and accountability to the House with the intent to "PUT DISTRICT 33B FIRST."
Minnesota has been my home for over 16 years. Prior to moving to Minnesota, I grew up in a small town in central Illinois. From a young age, I always wanted to help others and do the right thing. There were bumps and bruises along the way. They taught me many valuable lessons including accountability, resolve, and to always stand up for what you believe. I have lived by these principles my whole life. Education and perseverance were always important to my parents, as my father owned and operated his own small business for 35 years and my mother was a school teacher and raised 5 children.
My parents perseverance and love of education led me to attend Bradley University in Illinois for my undergrad, where I majored in business and then law school at the University of Montana in Missoula. After law school, I moved to Minnesota, passed the Bar Exam and took my first legal job in Red Wing, Minnesota. I practiced law at a small firm, and then started my own business, which I've been running for over 10 years.
Red Wing will always have a place in my heart as that is where I met my loving, smart, patient, and beautiful wife, Amanda. After Red Wing, Amanda and I moved to the Twin Cities and started our family. Amanda and I are the proud parents of 3 daughters (8, 6, and 3) with a new one on the way. Our children attend Minnetonka Schools and the Wayzata Community Church Nursery School, where we participate on a monthly basis. I have always had a passion for giving back to the community, through youth coaching and volunteering.
In 2012, I decided to take on a larger role in my community first by volunteering to serve on the Minnetonka Beach Planning Commission and in 2016, I was elected to Minnetonka Beach City Council. For the past 4 years, I have lead and made decisions related to public utilities, parks, bonding for major improvements, development / zoning, budgeting comprehensive planning, and contract negotiations in support of the best interests of my constituents.
City Council has allowed me to build a lot of mutually respectful relationships with most of the cities that make up District 33B. These relationships run deep and include Mayors, Council Members, State Senators, State Representatives, business owners, Fire Departments, Police Departments, and many community organizations. These relationships are critical and beneficial as I advocate for the interests of the constituents of District 33B.
