Bio

Senator Mike Dugan, a Republican, was elected to the State Senate for Georgia’s 30th District in early 2013. Sen. Dugan represents portions of Carroll, Douglas and Paulding counties.

Sen. Dugan is the Vice-Chairman of the Governmental Oversight Committee and Secretary of the State Institutions and Property Committee. He is also a member of the Eco-nomic Development and the Veterans, Military and Home-land Security committees.

Prior to being elected Senator, Sen. Dugan was President of the Carrollton Kiwanis Club, served on the Executive Board of the Carrollton Housing Authority and West Georgia Ath-letic Foundation Executive Committee.

Sen. Dugan enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating from college the first time. He was later commissioned as a Se-cond Lieutenant in the Infantry. He became an Army Rang-er and a Master Paratrooper and is proud to have spent more than 20 years in the Army before retiring as a Lieu-tenant Colonel in 2008. During his career, he deployed to more than 32 countries, including combat deployments in Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sen. Dugan is now a local contractor at the Carrollton branch of RA-LIN and Associates. RA-LIN maintains a repu-tation as one of the most respected providers of construc-tion services in the Southeast.

Sen. Dugan attended Bowdon High School, where he played football and ran track. He graduated from the University of West Georgia (UWG) with a Bachelors Degree in History. He also earned a Masters Degree in Organizational Develop-ment from UWG.

He is married to Missy and they have two children; daugh-ter, Meghan and son, Beau. The Dugan’s are members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Carrollton.
