Bio

State Representative Donald Moffitt is a full-time State Legislator who represents the 74th District. He has served the Illinois General Assembly from 1993 to present day.

Rep. Moffitt is the Republican Spokesperson for both the Armed Forces & Military Affairs Committee and the Transportation- Vehicles & Safety Committee. He also serves on the Special Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and Elementary & Secondary Education Committee.

Throughout Rep. Moffitt’s legislative career he has acquired several prestigious awards including; Legislator of the Year, Illinois Optometric Association, 2000; Legislator of the Year, Illinois Association for Fire Protection Districts, 2002; Legislator of the Year, Illinois Firefighters Association, 2003; Legislator of the Year, Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, 2003; and Legislator of the Year, Northern Illinois Alliance of Fire Protection Districts, 2004.

Rep. Moffitt was born February 18th, 1947 in Galesburg. He went on to graduate for the University of Illinois with a B.S. in agriculture education and economics. He was a former Knox County Treasurer, Knox County Board member and chair, and Knoxville City Council member. He was also the Mayor of Oneida and served as an alderman in Oneida. He is married with three children.
