Bio

Representative Debbie Wood is a graduate of Southern Union Community College, and the Avery Yarbrough School of real Estate. She is the Broker and Chief Operating Officer for Century 21 Wood Real Estate in Valley, Alabama. She is the mother of two young adult children, Nick and Katelyn, and two beautiful granddaughters Katherine and Lillian. Debbie had been married to Bobby for the past 29 years. Debbie began her real estate career in 1993 as a Sales Associate with Valley Realty. In 2000 Debbie and her husband opened Wood Real Estate and in 2007 added the Century 21 Franchise. Her involvement and love for Chambers County impelled Debbie to run for a seat on the Chambers County Commission in 2002. She served four terms as district 6 Representative for Chambers County. She was the first female to be elected as the County Commission Chair. In 2014 Debbie had the prestigious honor of serving as the President of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama. After her year of service to Alabama Debbie was appointed to serve as a representative to the National Association of County Officials Board in Washington D.C., (NACO). In 2015 Debbie was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She fought and won this life battle with help from an experienced team of physicians, double mastectomy, medication, and prayers and support from friends and family. Today she is cancer free and more determined to be involved in positive change in Alabama. Her service resume over the years is extremely impressive and validates her love for community. Debbie has held the following positions; -PTO President (3) different schools -Chamber of Commerce President -Chambers County Board of Realtors President -Bread Basket Volunteer -Red Cross Board Member and Volunteer -Auburn University GEDI Board Member -Sunday School teacher, Langdale United Methodist Church -Celebrate Recovery Ministry Leader, Langdale United Methodist Church -City of Valley dilapidated Homes Committee -Legislative Committee Chair ACCA -Workman's Compensation Board President ACCA -Chambers County Development Authority Liaison -Crime Stoppers Board Member -Project leadership graduate.
