Bio

Prince Chestnut was born in Selma and attended both the City and County School Systems, attending Valley Grande Elementary and Meadowview, Westside Middle School and Selma High School. He attended WCCS and received his B.S. in Political Science from Auburn University Montgomery where he made the Dean's List; Prince was elected and served as a Senator in the Student Government Association; and, was inducted as a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Fraternity. Upon graduating with honors (cum laude) from law school at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in May 2001, he was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in the same year. Among other things, he has been a newspaper columnist on legal issues, served as a judge, engaged in numerous hours of community service; and served as an inaugural member of the Indigent Defense Review Panel, which considers the delivery of indigent defense services in the State of Alabama. Moreover, he served on the board of directors for the Alabama Lawyers Association and the Selma & Dallas County Chamber of Commerce, respectively. For years, Prince Chestnut has participated in the Alabama State Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program and been recognized on the Pro Bono Honor Roll. Prince was featured in the June 2013 edition of Selma The Magazine "Top 20 under 40". Prince Chestnut has a law practice in Selma and practices primarily in the areas of government, business, nonprofit and personal injury. Prince has represented corporations and political officials in the State of Alabama. He has also worked with clients and officials to spur job creation in the Black Belt. Prince attended church at Green Street Baptist Church in Selma as a child (under the late Rev. C.A. Lett) and is a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church (under Pastor Billy Marshall) in Valley Grande, Alabama. Prince is the son of Marilyn Chestnut, Frank Chestnut, Sr. and Joyce Chestnut. He is married to the former Alicia Roye and they have a daughter, Cadence Elizabeth.
