Bio

My name is Soo Hong. I was born in Seoul, South Korea. When I was 10 years old, my family legally immigrated to the United States to start a new life. My parents left their family and friends because they wanted better opportunities and a better life for me and my brother. I learned English with the help of amazing teachers who volunteered after school at Powers Ferry Elementary. That experience has left an indelible mark on my life and helped me get to where I am today. I went on to graduate from Georgia Tech and then Mercer Law School. Without the teachers who went out of their way to teach me English and the community that welcomed me with open arms, I wouldn't be here practicing law and now representing Gwinnett and Hall counties as a state representative. Watching my parents work hard and do whatever they could to provide a better life for us in America instilled in me the value of hard work. Now, I am a successful lawyer with my own practice with offices in Gwinnett and Marietta. Now, I am blessed to have the opportunity to pay back my parents for the sacrifices they made for me to get to this point.

I've truly lived the American Dream, and I am on a mission to make sure future generations have the same opportunities I had. As your state representative, I am working hard each day to protect the American Dream by making Georgia safer, stronger, and more prosperous than ever before.
