BioMargaret Kaiser represents House District 59, which includes part of Fulton County. Sworn in onJanuary 8, 2007, Representative Kaiser speaks for one of the most diverse, expansive, and exciting districts in the State. District 59 stretches from high-rises and homes in Midtown, through historic Old 4th ward, parts of downtown, historic Inman Park, Grant Park, Summerhill, Peoplestown, Mechanicsville, and Pittsburgh, and stretches through South Atlanta, including the neighborhoods of historic Lakewood, Thomasville, Polar Rock, as well as the communities along Pryor Road South. Representative Kaiser’s diverse range of experience has prepared her to represent the citizens of the 59th District. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from Emory University while she worked full-time in constituent affairs for Georgia’s Secretary of State. Representative Kaiser then worked for the Carter Center in Public Information, and later worked for a year on The Atlanta Project before President Carter announced its inception. She continued in this position until leaving the Center. Representative Kaiser is married to Eric Kaiser. Since their marriage, she has assisted with the operation of his small businesses, Grant Central and Grant Central East Pizza. After the birth of their first son, Willem, they, along with their business partner, opened Cabbagetown Grill. After the birth of their second son, Ewan, Representative Kaiser became involved in the start-up of a Charter school in her neighborhood. When she began her service with the Charter school, Representative Kaiser sold her half of Cabbagetown Grill. Currently, she serves as President of her family’s small business, Kaiser Dough and Pizza Concepts, and she remains active in her children's schools. Representative Kaiser and her husband are currently participating in the 2011 Class of Leadership Georgia. Through her vast range of experience, Representative Kaiser has gained an understanding of the concerns of downtown Atlantans, small business owners, school officials, and most importantly, Georgia families, and she is proud to represent the interests of House District 59.
