BioElected in 2005, Representative Willie Talton currently serves as the spokesman for theconstituents of House District 145, encompassing the communities of Houston County. Representative Talton was appointed by Speaker of the House, David Ralston, to serves as Chairman of Special Rules. He also serves as Vice Chairman of Public Safety & Homeland Security, and serves on Banks & Banking, Education, Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment and Ways & Means Committees. Representative Talton formerly served as Deputy Majority Whip for the House of Representative. His education includes an Associated Degree in Education from Middle Georgia College in 1974 and a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice from Fort Valley State University. Upon completion of the Houston County Training School in 1962, Talton began his law enforcement career with the City of Warner Robins just three (3) years later. He completed several courses of special training along the way. In 1972, he was a student of the Basic Mandate Training Course, followed by the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council (GPSTC) in 1974. He also took the GPSTC Instructor’s Course along with various other state, local and federal training courses. Talton retired serving the Houston County Sheriff Department with 33 years as Deputy Sheriff and 28 of those years as Chief Deputy Sheriff. He also served as former interim Chief of Police for the Centerville Police Department. Representative Talton has had extensive organizational involvement, including his service of the Former Governor’s Board of Private Detectives and Security Guards for the State of Georgia. He is a member of the Flint Electric Corporation’s Board of Directors and a member of the Rotary Club. He is also on the Board of the YMCA, CB&T Bank and Robin’s Museum of Aviation. Representative Talton and his wife, the former Annie Mae Tobler, have been married for 49 years; the couple has two children and five grandchildren
