Bio

Senator Lonnie M. Randolph returned to the Indiana Senate Democratic Caucus after leaving the General Assembly in 1998 to become a judge for the East Chicago City Court. Randolph was re-elected to serve the 2nd Senate District in November of 2008.

As a former State Senator, Randolph advocated legislation for women's rights, union rights, job creation and to assist small businesses. Randolph extensively worked on health care legislation by examining HMO mental health policies at the Lilly Symposium as a member of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators.

Randolph serves as the Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Judiciary and Utilities and Technology Committees. He also serves on the Senate Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee and Energy and Environmental Affairs Committee. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, he also serves on that panel's Subcommittee on Probate Code and Trusts.

Randolph has also been appointed to serve on the Law and Criminal Justice Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures, a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation's 50 states, its commonwealths and territories.

Graduating with a Bachelors of Science from Northern Illinois University and with a Law Degree from John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Randolph now works as an attorney for the Law Firm of Randolph and Holcomb.

Within Senate District 2, Randolph serves on the Gary Chamber of Commerce and Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the NAACP, Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Mason East Chicago, Lakeside Grand Lodge #47, A. Phillip Randolph Labor Union Gary Branch, God's Mighty Men and a member of Friendship Baptist Church Trustee Board of Directors. Randolph resides in East Chicago with his wife, Linda, and two children, Lakesha and Lonnie, II.
