Bio

State RepresentativeTony Dale was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2012. Prior to serving in the Texas legislature he was appointed in 2009 to fill a vacancy on the Cedar Park City Council and was later elected in a special election in 2010. He ended his service on the city council as Mayor Pro Tem in 2012. Before serving on City Council, he was Vice Chairman of the Cedar Park Planning and Zoning Commission. Tony served on the Planning and Zoning Commission from 2007 to 2009. He was a member of the Cedar Park Charter Review Committee from 2008 to 2009. As a committee member he reviewed the city charter and made suggested changes to the city's guiding document. At the county level, Tony has been active in transportation related boards. From 2005 to 2008 he was appointed by the Williamson County Commissioners to serve on the board of directors of the Williamson County Conservation Foundation. As a board member he worked with all levels of government, from the school district level to the federal level, to create a Regional Habitat Conservation Plan to help the county reduce the burden related to the federal endangered species act. He served on two Williamson County Grand Juries. In 2008 he was elected as a Delegate to the Republican National Convention. Tony is a member of the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce. In 2010 State Senator Florence Shapiro appointed Tony as a member of the K2 Task Force to assist in passing a statewide legislative ban on the synthetic drug known as "K2" or "Spice". Tony was a delegate on the VI Texas Trade Mission to Mexico sponsored by the Office of the Texas Governor in 2005. In 2004 he was a member of the State Textbook Review Panel for the Texas Education Agency.

Tony is a proud U.S. Army veteran from a family with a rich tradition of military service. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1989. In 1990 he joined the Army ROTC program. In 1992, upon graduation from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Political Science, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Regular Army. As an armor officer, Tony trained at Fort Knox, Kentucky and was later stationed with the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas. In 1997 he left active service with the rank of Captain. Tony is a charter member of the Hunter-Morris Memorial American Legion Post 911. His military decorations include the Parachutes Badge, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Expert Marksman Badge (rifle and pistol) and the Noble Patron of Armor from the U.S. Army Armor Association. In his professional life Tony owns an energy related consulting firm. Tony's wife, Mary Lopez Dale, is a former Army Captain and currently owns the Mary Dale Law Firm in Cedar Park. They have been married for 21 years and have two daughters who attend Leander ISD schools. They are members of St. Vincent de Paul Church. His hobbies include family activities, reading, shooting sports, and serving the community.

State Representative Tony Dale serves on the House Committee on Energy Resources and the House Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety. Representative Dale is a member of the House Veteran's Caucus, the House Manufacturing Caucus and Secretary of the House Energy Caucus.
