Representative Charles Newton was first elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 1989.

He is president of Newton Oil Company and is a member of the Greenville Rotary Club, Alabama Cattlemen's Association, and the Alabama Historical Association.

Representative Newton is a member of First Baptist Church of Greenville.
