Bio

Senator Evie Hudak of Westminster was re-elected to her second term as the Senator from Senate District 19 in November 2012.

She currently serves as Chair of the Senate Education Committee and as a member of Senate State, Veteran, and Military Affairs Committee.

During her first term, Senator Hudak served as Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, Vice-Chair of the Senate Education Committee, and as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and Finance Committee. In addition, Senator Hudak has served on the Economic Opportunity Poverty Reduction Task Force, Early Childhood School Readiness Legislative Commission, the Advisory Committee of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education, and as a Commissioner for the Education Commission of the States.

Before being elected to her first term in 2008, she was elected twice to the State Board of Education, representing the 2nd Congressional District. Her involvement in the Democratic Party has been extensive, and she has also worked on several ballot issue campaigns. Because of her background as an educator for more than 20 years, much of her time has been spent in education-related activities. She served on the PTAs and accountability committees at each of her daughter's schools.
