Bio

Georgia Senate Majority Leader Ronnie Chance, a native Atlantan, has been involved in Georgia’s business and political arenas for over 25 years. In 2004, Senator Chance was first elected to the State Senate from Georgia’s 16th District. He currently serves as the Senate Majority Leader.

Senator Chance represents four counties in south Metro Atlanta and serves on the Appropriations, Economic Development, Finance, Regulated Industries, Rules and Transportation Committees. He is the previous chairman of both the Senate Economic Development Committee and Senate Finance Committee. Senator Chance also served as Administrative Floor Leader to both Governor Sonny Perdue and Governor Nathan Deal.

Two decades ago, Senator Chance founded an Atlanta based public relations firm, focusing on communications and business development services. He has advised several Fortune 100 corporations and a number of policy leaders including former United States Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole and United States Senator Johnny Isakson, as well as, United States Congressmen Mac Collins, Phil Gringrey and Lynn Westmoreland.

In recognition of his leadership, Senator Chance has received several awards including Legislator of the Year by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the “2009 Champion of Economic Development” by the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. He received the “2010 Friend of Business Award” by the Regional Business Coalition, the 2011 Environmental Leadership Award by Georgia Conservation Voters and the 2013 Legislator of the Year Award by Georgia Bio. Senator Chance is a 2007 graduate of Leadership Georgia.

Senator Chance earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business. He is married to the former Cressida Stevens of Gloucestershire, England. The Chances have three daughters and are members of Peachtree City United Methodist Church.
