Bio

Rep. James McLean of Batesville is serving his third term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. He represents District 63, which includes part of Independence County.

During the 89th General Assembly, Rep. McLean serves as Chair for the Education Committee. He serves on the Joint Budget committee and also serves on the City, County and Local Affairs committee.

During the 88th General Assembly, Rep. McLean served on Arkansas Legislative Council, where he chaired the Peer Review Subcommittee. He also served as vice-chair of the Arkansas State Game and Fish Commission Legislative Oversight Committee. In addition, he served on the House Education Committee, where he is vice-chair of the Subcommittee for Early Education. Rep. McLean also served on the House Rules Committee, the Joint Budget Committee, and the House Committee on State Agencies and Governmental Affairs. During his first term, Rep. McLean served as vice-chair of the Arkansas State Game and Fish Commission Legislative Oversight committee, and he served on both the House Public Transportation Committee and the House Committee for City, County and Local Affairs.

Rep. McLean earned degrees from the University of the Ozarks and Arkansas State University. He works as a funeral director. He and his wife, Katie, are Methodist. They have two young children.
