BioRepresentative David Standridge was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in a special election that took place on December 11, 2012. He grew up on a farm in Blount County, graduated from Hayden High School, and later served as a law enforcement official for 21 years. Representative Standridge holds a degree from Wallace State College, a BS degree from Athens State University, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He was elected and served on the Blount County Board of Education from 2000 – 2006 and was then elected Blount County probate judge and commission chairman in 2006. During his term, the County Commission paid off the county’s entire long-term debt. In 2012, Representative Standridge retired as Probate Judge. He has been married to his wife, Danna -- who is a retired teacher-- for 30 years. They have three children, daughter Lonna, who is an elementary teacher and is currently a stay-at-home mom. Their oldest son, Caleb, is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and is currently a Captain in the Air Force. Their youngest son, Joshua, is a veterinarian and owns his own practice in Blount County. Representative Standridge and his wife also have four grandchildren. They are members of Hayden First Baptist Church.
