Bio

David Jacoby is serving his fourth term in the Iowa House of Representatives. He is the Assistant Majority Leader and serves on the Administration and Rules, Appropriations, Commerce, Economic Growth, and Rebuild Iowa and Disaster Recovery committees. Dave was born and raised in Marion, Iowa to George and Millie Jacoby, who are now retired. He graduated from Marion High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa. He has lived in the Coralville/Iowa City area for the past 25 years. Dave worked as a Program Director of Workforce Initiatives for 23 years at Kirkwood Community College where he had extensive experience in employment programming, economic development, and human services. He now runs a small business, Dave’s Resale, specializing in estate sales. He is also a member of Carpenter’s Local 1260. Dave was elected to two terms on the Coralville City Council from 1997–2003, where he was a leader in developing policy in a high-growth and community-oriented city. His service on the Council has been an asset in the Legislature in understanding the challenges of local government. He has served on the Johnson County Empowerment, Juvenile Justice Youth Development, and the Mayor’s Youth and Successful Living boards, as well as the State of Iowa Workforce Development Board. Dave is active in the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Economic Growth Committee. He is also a member of the Victory Riders Association.

Dave’s wife Lynette is a Social Worker and a Program Supervisor at a local youth center. She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Masters in Social Work from the University of Iowa. They have two daughters, Ellie and Anna, who both attend Coralville Central Elementary. The Jacobys also have two rescue Golden Retrievers, Shea and Sophie. The Jacobys attend St. Thomas More Catholic Church. In his spare time, Dave enjoys fishing, golfing, camping, biking, Hawkeye wrestling and football.
