Bio

Senator Jim Hendren represents Senate District 2, which comprises portions of Benton and Washington counties. Serving his first term in the Arkansas Senate, his committee memberships during the 89th General Assembly include Senate Education; Senate Transportation, Technology & Legislative Affairs; Senate Children and Youth; Arkansas Legislative Council; Joint Budget Committee (JBC); Joint Energy; JBC-Special Language; and Academic Facilities Oversight Committee. In 1994 Senator Hendren was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives, where he served three consecutive terms and supported and passed legislation addressing reduced government spending, limited government regulation, lower taxes and the preservation of life. The owner of Hendren Plastics, Inc., Senator Hendren is active in several organizations- „h Gravette School Board, 15 years of service, „h Kiwanis Club, past president and current member, „h Lifetime member of the American Legion, and „h Veteran¡¦s Airlift Command. A native of Gravette, Senator Hendren received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arkansas in 1984. The same year he joined the United States Air Force, where he served eight years as an F-15 fighter pilot. Following the tragedies on September 11, 2001, Hendren returned to military service through the Missouri Air National Guard and is currently a Senior Offensive Duty Officer (SODO), 157 Air Operations Group in St. Louis. Senator Hendren and his wife of over 25 years, Tammy, have three sons and one daughter. Then Hendrens also have two granddaughters.
