Bio

Representative Victor Gaston, a retired school administrator and timber farmer, was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 1982. He was elected Speaker Pro Tempore on December 8, 2010.

He was born on January 15, 1943, received his B.S. Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, M.A. from the University of South Alabama, and Ed.D from Auburn University.

He and his wife, Jean, are the parents of two sons, Hank and George.

Representative Gaston serves as Deacon of the Springhill Baptist Church. He is also a member of Phi Delta Kappa, a Life Member of the Auburn University Alumni Association, has served as a delegate to five Republican National Conventions, the Rules Committee in 1988, and the Credetials Committee in 2000.

He serves as a member of the Board of Volunteers of America, the Penelope House, Home of Grace for Women, Mobile Mental Health Center, and the Mobile Association of Retarded Citizens.

Representative Gaston is also a member of the Advisory Council for the Assistance League of Mobile, the American Legislative Exchange Council, the State Building Commission, and is a former member of the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars and the United States Energy Council.
