Bio

Stacey Godfrey Evans was elected to the State House on November 2, 2010 and represents parts

of Smyrna, Marietta, and Vinings. As a partner at Wood, Hernacki & Evans, LLC, Stacey is a

small business founder and owner. She began her legal career at Powell Goldstein Frazer &

Murphy LLP, which later became Bryan Cave LLP. A life-long Georgian, she is originally from

Ringgold and was the first person in her family to graduate from college. A proud "double

dawg," she earned both her bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science and her law

degree, cum laude, from the University of Georgia.

Stacey is active in the community. She currently serves on the boards of directors of

Communities in Schools of Marietta/Cobb County and the Cobb Library Foundation. She is the

immediate past chair of the Georgia High School Mock Trial program and remains an active

volunteer with this organization, which she credits for leading her to law school.

Stacey has earned several honors for leadership and community service. In 2004, Stacey was

recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle in its article, "Up and Comers/Under 40 and

Rising- 50 of Atlanta’s Most Promising Young Stars." She was the youngest person in this group

of distinguished Georgians. Stacey was also named to the Class of 2008 of Outstanding Atlanta.

She is a graduate of LEAD Atlanta, the State Bar Young Lawyers Division Leadership

Academy, and the Atlanta Women’s Foundation Destiny Fund.

Stacey met her husband, Andrew, in law school, and they were married in December of 2004.

Andrew is a real estate attorney. They live in Smyrna.
