Retired Lt. Col. Kenny Ray Cox wishes to officially announce his candidacy for Louisiana House of Representatives District 23.

Cox has strong Christian family values. He has been married to Candie L. (Colbert) Cox of Mansfield for 28 years and has traveled the world in support of her husband. They have four children, all of whom attended public school. The oldest son, Brook, is presently serving in Iraq in defense of our country, his son, Darrell, is a truck driver in South Carolina, his daughter, Kellen, is a nurse at DeSoto Regional Health System and his youngest son, Kenny II, is a graduate of technology college. LTC Cox is a graduate of Coushatta High School in Coushatta, and graduated from Northwestern State University in 1980 and is a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College. Cox specialized in the Air Defense Artillery, Office Basic Course, Team Building Course, Equal Opportunity Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, U.S. Army Comptroller School, Army Budget Management School, Energy Conservation Training, Terrorist Detection & Prevention Training, Security Training, Information Security Training, Pentagon Staff and organizational training, Counter-Terrorist Defensive Driving Training, Mass Disaster Training, Facilitator for Disaster Post Critical Stress Management and many other schooling and training. LTC Kenny R. Cox planned, programmed, budgeted, and managed over $1.2 billion dollars as the Comptroller for the Chief of Staff of the Army in the Special Access Programs and monitored and advised on the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) supplemental programs totaling over $600 million alone. He is a leader that believes it’s important to complete the mission; but most of all a leader must take care of our most valuable asset our people from the young to the elderly.

LTC Cox desires to improve the quality of life for District 23 and all Louisianans. LTC Cox is running 1) to provide good jobs for Louisiana residents by strengthening rural economic development; 2) to improve Louisiana schools by protecting local control and maintaining funding without raising property taxes; focusing on a prepare to work program for all high school students in the 23 District-to help develop a trained work force 3) to ensure safe, clean and accessible communities by implementing crime reduction program for all Louisiana residents 4) to improve the elderly medical health care and assist both physically and financially. “I did not spend 25 and a half years in the Army defending the great nation to come back and find out that many of our elderly must choose between their medicine and food.” Cox said. “I also see that most of our young are not trained to do anything. Because the youth are not trained on any technical skill, many businesses/companies will not come to the 23rd District of Louisiana because we do not have a trained work force. With your vote, support and prayers we can make the necessary changes to become a striving economic district and state that all can be proud of in the coming years.”

LTC Cox is no stranger to leadership. Known by his colleagues and peers as a master strategist and innovator with vision, for the 25 and a half years, LTC Cox served our country in the United States Army. LTC Cox fought for the freedom of America and it’s people both national and international. LTC Cox is an accomplished leader with a record of excellence in developing and motivating teams toward meeting aggressive performance goals. He is a survivor of three terrorist bombings Germany, Saudi Arabia, and the final bombing was Sept 11, 2001 at the pentagon. LTC Cox risked his life over and over to save many fellow American’s lives until he almost lost his life. LTC Cox was recognized as a hero of 9-11. LTC Kenny Cox distinguished himself by performing acts of heroism on 11 September 2001 by conducting rescue operations during the terrorist attack on the Pentagon. Cox displayed total disregard for his own safety by instinctively going to the impact area to save others. LTC Cox reentered the burning building on three separate occasions seeking survivors. LTC Cox was awarded the Soldiers Medal for heroism (9-11) the highest peace time medal for the Army. He will tell you that he is just an ‘old country boy’ from Louisiana who loves God and servicing and helping others. LTC Cox’s continuous civic and local involvement in the community has allowed him the chance to see exactly what the people need and desire. LTC Cox is ready to be that voice of the people for economic, educational and social improvements for the District 23 and the State of Louisiana. LTC Cox will be available to the people and service your needs.

A strong voice with leadership and vision for our families, businesses and communities, (Ret) Lt. Col Kenny Ray Cox is a proven empowered leader with innovative vision and experience ready to continue the progress and development of the 23rd District and the state of Louisiana.
