Bio

Lenar Whitney, a Houma native, is a 52 year old businesswoman who is a lifelong Republican. She recognized the value of conservative governance before the Reagan Revolution began, having registered as a Republican in 1977.

She has operated a small business continually since she was 16 years old and understands the value of hard work and thrift. She has successfully expanded her sales experience to include productive tenures in the media industry, oil field fabrication, repair and maintenance and the telecommunications space.

Lenar is married to Lee Whitney, one of Houma’s most talented artisans. Lee has operated Whitney Signs for almost 30 years. Lee is an avid 2nd Amendment advocate as well as a grass roots conservative activist. Lee was raised in Houma and Upper Caillou which represents half of the core “Bayou Vote.” Lee’s lifelong friendship with the Chabert family translates to Lenar in a way that is significant and useful.

Lenar Ledet Whitney traces her family tree on the Ledet and Boquet side directly to two of Bourg/Montegut’s key families. This relationship is not lost upon those in the community that truly understand the value of “family” in bayou politics. Bourg/Montegut comprises the other half of the core bayou constituencies.

Finally, Lenar graduated from Vanderbilt High School and has an Associates degree in Business from Nicholls State University. She has two children, both graduates of LSU.
