Representative Brooks P. Coleman, Jr. is currently serving his tenth term in the Georgia State House of Representatives. He represents the 97th District, which covers parts of Duluth, Sugar Hill, Suwanee, and Buford. Currently, Representative Coleman serves as the Chairman to the Education Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations, Intragovernmental Coordination, Natural Resources & Environment, and Retirement committees. Outside of the Capitol, Representative Coleman works as a motivational speaker and he also is an auctioneer, where he helps raise money for charities and schools. In his free time, he enjoys restoring antique clocks and has restored several grandfather clocks within the Capitol throughout his legislative career. Representative Coleman has a Ph.D from Georgia State University in Administration/Curriculum. He holds two Education Specialist degrees in Administion/Supervision and Elementary Education. He received his Master of Education in Administration/Supervision from the University of Georgia and attended Mercer University where he gained his Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. During his time as an educator, Representative Coleman was a teacher, principal, director of curriculum for Gwinnett County and an assistant superintendent. Representative Coleman is married to Mary Claire Coleman and has one daughter, Amy Mock, who is now a school teacher in Gwinnett County. His son-in-law is Stephen Mock and he has two grandchildren, Patrick and Theresa.
